2 New Insurance Codes Effective January 2017

Dentistry is evolving, no surprise there. Metrics are being implemented to help with this evolution in dentistry. Metrics help eliminate questions. The SoproLIFE and SoproCARE cameras are a perfect fit for those metrics!

New Codes

D0600 - Non-ionizing diagnostic procedure capable of quantifying, monitoring, and recording changes in the structure of enamel, dentin, and cementum. – Interpretation - Offices can utilize this code to submit to the insurance for use of caries detection device. SoproLIFE is FDA approved to detect occlusal and interproximal caries. SoproCARE has been FDA approved for caries detection as well.

D4346 - Scaling in presence of generalized moderate or severe gingival inflammation - full mouth after oral evaluation. Interpretation - Patients with gingival inflammation resulting in 4 to 5 mm probings but the radiographs show no bone loss.  Essentially this is going to fill the gap between a prophy and an SRP which is greatly needed. Capturing images of the gingival inflammation, plaque, and calculus will be imperative along with utilizing Loe and Silness -gingival inflammation index in your narrative to the insurance company will eliminate any questions the insurance company may have!
